dc.description.other-abstract | The purpose of this study was to investigate whether Task-based translation learning could improve the Chinese vocabulary learning performance of 10th-grade students in a private bilingual school and to explore their perceptions and satisfaction with Task-based translation learning. Thirty students were the participants of this experimental study. Data were collected through pre-tests and post-tests, questionnaires, and interviews. The experiment was conducted over a five-week period. Mean standard deviation and Levene's test were the statistics used for data analysis. The study of the test results showed a significant difference between the means of the pre-test (x̄ = 64.63) and the post-test (x̄ = 84.56). The significant p-value was 0.461, which is greater than 0.05, indicating that the difference between the pre and post-test A experiments was significant. The findings suggest that task-based translation learning can improve Chinese vocabulary learning performance and can be effective in obtaining high scores. The results of the questionnaire survey showed that learning Chinese vocabulary through Task-based translation learning improved students' understanding of the tasks in Task-based translation learning, their views of implementing task-based translation learning, and their intrinsic motivation. The results of the semi-structured interviews showed that the satisfied students improved their required competencies, such as teamwork and self-directed learning, as well as their translation skills. More research on Task-based translation learning for different groups of Chinese students is encouraged. | en_US |
