metadata.dc.description.other-abstract: This research aims to 1) explore the narrative styles utilized in films produced by Pixar Animation Studio and 2) analyze the film language employed by the studio. Employing a qualitative approach, the study utilizes textual analysis to analyze five Pixar animation films released between 2020 and 2022. The films, selected through purposive sampling, include 1) Soul (2020), 2) Onward (2020), 3) Luca (2021), 4) Turning Red (2022), and 5) Lightyear (2022). The results reveal that Pixar Animation Studio employs a ‘three-act’ structure, showcasing the studio’s innovative interpretations of narrative themes and techniques. This approach ensures both continuity in their work and fosters individual innovation and critical thinking within Pixar. Additionally, Pixar exhibits versatility with various film styles, including drama, adventure, and science fiction. Notably, their thematic focus predominantly revolves around the intricacies of modern life, with human emotions at the core, serving as a catalyst for creative idea development. In terms of film language, the results demonstrate that Pixar Animation Studio elevates it as an art form that forges a direct audio-visual connection with the audience. The study also delves into the use of camera shots, color, and music in Pixar animated films, and it is found that Pixar's film language predominantly embodies a natural style, complemented by elements of fantasy. The visual style is characterized by vibrant colors, distinctive deformations, sci-fi settings, and a seamless blend of virtual and reality. This creative approach imparts a robust visual impact, captivating audiences
