dc.description.other-abstractThe study was conducted to compare the English reading comprehension skill of grade 5 Bhutanese students before and after using audio-assisted reading strategy and to investigate the learning satisfaction of grade 5 Bhutanese students towards the use of this strategy. The study adopted quasi-experimental design employing both qualitative and quantitative methods. The instruments used to gather quantitative and qualitative data were reading comprehension tests (pretest and posttest) and semi-structured interview respectively. The quantitative data were analyzed using a paired sample t-test. According to the analysis, the average score of the posttest (25.18) was greater than the average score of the pretest (18.75) with a mean difference of 6.43. The significance value for the group was 0.01 which indicated significant increase in the scores of the students in the posttest compared to those of pretest. Similarly, the data collected from the interviews revealed that students were motivated and satisfied with the use of audio-assisted reading strategy. Therefore, this study recommends incorporating audio-assisted reading strategy as an effective learning strategy to enhance students' reading comprehension skill.en_US
