dc.description.other-abstractThis research aims to explore whether project-based learning (PBL) method could improve the English-speaking abilities of Grade Ten Chinese students and to investigate whether Grade Ten Chinese students are satisfied with the application of PBL method in oral English teaching. The study employed quasi-experimental research method. The sample is 32 students from Class 7, Grade 10, Shanghai No. 1 High School, China. Pretest, post-test, and questionnaire were used as research instruments. Data obtained from tests and questionnaire were analyzed by using SPSS for descriptive statistics and the data from pre-test and post-test were analyzed. The results showed that the significance value (P value) of test is less than 0.05. The research findings revealed that the project-based learning method could improve the English-speaking abilities of Chinese Grade 10 students. The result of questionnaire showed the significance of the P value was 0.000, less than 0.05 proving that Chinese students in Grade 10 were satisfied with the project-based learning method. To improve the English-speaking abilities of Chinese students, the PBL method can be promoted in various regions of China, not limited to the teaching of English-speaking abilities as well as in all subject areas.en_US
