dc.description.other-abstractThe purpose of this study was to develop Cultural-based Chinese Learning Material Design to Enhance Thai Secondary School Students’ Cultural Awareness and Chinese Language Learning Ability. There were two phases of the research: material design phase and the implementation of the developed material phase. In the first phase after the material was designed, it has been verified and evaluated on the material design dimensions. Then, the developed material was implemented with the Thai secondary school students learning Chinese as a foreign language. The research questions posted for this study were: 1) What are the experts’ opinions concerning the developed Chinese cultural language materials to enhance Thai students’ cultural awareness and Chinese language learning ability? 2) To what extent does the developed cultural-based Chinese learning material enhance Thai students’ cultural awareness? 3) To what extent does the developed cultural-based Chinese learning material enhance Thai secondary school students’ Chinese language learning ability? The research findings reveal that 1) the developed material was verified and was rated by three Chinese language teaching experts at the high level in 3 dimensions: Interest, Communicative, Systemic, and highest level in 4 dimensions: Practicality, Knowledge, Scientific, Target Check Purposeful in the material design. 2) the result of paired t-test between the pre-and post-test of Chinese cultural awareness was significant different at p<0.01 with a large effect size 3) the result of paired t-test between the pre-and post-test of Chinese language learning ability was significant different at p<0.01 with a large effect size. The evidence supported that the developed material was effective in helping the Thai secondary school students learning Chinese as a foreign language to enhance their Chinese cultural awareness and Chinese language learning abilityen_US
