Abstract: This study aims to present the significance of Mandarin pronunciation at Primary 1 students. This study used Pragmatic Theory, Innateness Theory, Brain-based Theory, and Self-determination Theory to support research. The total participants were 37 Primary One students, in two classes. The research instruments included phonological awareness assessment, Chinese nursery rhyme training, pre-interview, post-interview, and observation notes. The findings of the study were for Chinese nursery rhyme can motivate Primary 1 students, which based on increased motivation and quantitative statistics of phonological awareness assessment. · It is found that Chinese nursery rhyme can be an useful teaching tool that help students to memory and master Mandarin pronunciation
