metadata.dc.description.other-abstract: This quasi-experimental study investigated whether picture books and heuristic teaching method improved the writing skill of Chinese students in Grade 3 and their satisfaction with learning to write. The sample group consisted of 30 Chinese students studying in Grade 3 in Sichuan Province, China. Data were collected using six lesson plans, pre-test and post-test, and questionnaire, and analyzed using descriptive statistics and paired-sample t-test. This time,online teaching was mainly used to collect data, and the data collection time was 6 weeks. According to the pre-test and post-test results, the post-test (x̅ =18.13, SD=5.34) of the sample group was significantly higher than the pre-test (x̅ =14.73, SD=4.89), with an average difference of 3.4. From the survey results of the questionnaire, all the items in the questionnaire were rated as the "highest" level. This showed that the students in the sample were highly satisfied with the application of picture books, and the heuristic teaching method in the writing class. This study proved that the use of picture books and heuristic teaching method improved students' Chinese writing skills, and provided a new teaching method for writing as well as new options for teaching in other fields.
