| metadata.dc.description.other-abstract: | This study examined the experiences of Chinese high school English teachers implementing project-based learning (PBL) using the Grounded Theory Approach. Semi-structured interviews lasting 40–60 minutes were conducted with 12 experienced teachers from 12 high schools in Nanning to investigate their perceptions of PBL, along with its challenges and benefits. The findings revealed that teachers generally regarded PBL as an effective method for engaging students with the language in practical, real world contexts. However, challenges such as classroom and time management, students’ unfamiliarity with tasks, varying levels of engagement, parental expectations and misconceptions, and the need for more professional development were highlighted. Despite these challenges, PBL was identified as a flexible and meaningful teaching approach, enhancing language proficiency and 21st-century skills while fostering greater students’ confidence and independence in learning |
