The redesign of the tea pot

Abstract

Drinking tea has long history in China. It was first discovered about 1500 years ago. Drinking tea with family and friends are significant way to communicate and relax in traditional Chinese culture. However, according to todays' pace of life, it is changing fast. People have less and less time to communicate face to face and are now spending most of their time connecting on the phone, thereby not being able to perceive each other's emotions, facial expressions, their inner thoughts and feeling as a result increasing the distance between people increasingly. In this study, the author proposes to redesign the tea set and the process of making tea in a group setting in the hope that this will bring the communication back to people lives. The teapot will not merely be a cultural product but it will also evolve as a centerpiece of human connection. This study will begin with an analysis of the materials traditionally used in making a Chinese teapot; then, look at the process and various aspects of preparation of an excellent cup of tea
